Actress Alyssa Milano finally opened up about the tension between her and Charmed co-star Shannen Doherty. It was well-known that Doherty left the show due to the tension on set. Years after that rumored tension, Milano recently confessed about her own involvement and shared updates on their present relationship status.
Shannen Doherty left the supernatural drama series Charmed in 2000, after Season 3. She stated the “drama” on set was the prime reason behind her early departure from the show. She explained further that the passion for work took a backseat on the set, due to unnecessary off-screen drama, which she couldn’t take anymore. Following Dorothy’s exit, Milano commented that working closely with a person of a different mindset is always hard. She stated herself as being a passive and laid-back person, while Doherty was very energetic and headstrong. In 2015, while addressing the feud again, Doherty said that, during the shooting, they were friends and simultaneously not friends at times.
It seems like the two actresses have mended the rough patch between them. While discussing her upcoming book Sorry Not Sorry, Milano gave an update on their recent relationship and stated that it is mostly “cordial” now. She also confessed that she had a major part in that tension, which stemmed from her own competitive feeling against Doherty, instead of the sisterhood the show wanted to portray. Taking responsibility for the matter, the actress admitted her own guilt about her involvement in the issue.
After battling breast cancer for several years, last year Doherty revealed that her disease had returned to stage 4. After the news, Alyssa Milano was quick to reach out to her as a well-wisher, and since continued to check on her condition following the diagnosis. The actress stated that she will send DMs to Doherty every couple of months to check-in. She also admitted that Doherty has been a great actress and she has respect towards her. The only regret remains, that she couldn’t be strong enough to recognize this back then.
