The statement follows the crisis talks that lasted two days and ended up formulating a response to the revealing interview that was watched by millions of viewers in both the U.S. and the U.K.
The statement continued by expressing that the issues raised, and particularly that of race, were concerning. Even though she stated that recollections might vary, the Queen takes these issues very seriously, and they will be addressed by the family privately. The statement then concludes with “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
Meghan Markle’s Trials in the Royal Institution
In the interview, Meghan Markle mentioned that she was “silenced” by the institution and added that she was denied help when she was suffering a mental health crisis. She also referred to “concerns and conversations” about the color of Archie’s skin when he would be born that were expressed by a member of the royal family. Although the couple didn’t name the family member, Oprah said Monday morning on CBS This Morning that it was neither of Harry’s grandparents, Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip.
Prince Harry’s Relationships with Prince Charles and Prince William
Harry also told Oprah about his relationships with his family members after their royal exit, admitting that there is work to be done with father Prince Charles and brother Prince William.
Harry mentioned that his father had stopped “taking his calls” even though the two are now working on their relationship again. Harry felt let down by his father, who’s been through something similar and knows pain. Harry continued by saying that he’d always love his father but also that a lot of hurt had happened.
As for his relationship with Prince William, Harry said that despite the fact that it was “space” at the moment, he loved William “to bits” as they’d been through hell together.
